At Agenda Screening, we have been helping to safeguard businesses and vulnerable individuals for years by carrying out basic, standard and enhanced DBS checks on new employees, prior to them joining.
DBS checks are designed to reveal an individual’s criminal history. It’s extremely common for employers to utilise these checks to assess a candidate’s suitability for roles that involve working with children or vulnerable adults. The DBS holds a comprehensive database of criminal convictions, cautions, and other relevant information, providing employers with valuable insights into a candidate’s past.
Please note: The Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) is the body that covers checks in England and Wales. In Scotland, checks are conducted by Disclosure Scotland and in Northern Ireland, they are conducted by Access NI. For further details regarding Disclosure Scotland checks, get in touch with our team.
DBS checks serve several critical purposes in the workplace:
Protecting Vulnerable Individuals: DBS checks help safeguard children, vulnerable adults, and others who may be at risk of harm. By screening individuals working with these groups, organisations can minimise the potential for abuse or exploitation.
Upholding Ethical Standards: Conducting DBS checks demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to ethical practices and social responsibility. It signifies that the organisation prioritises the well-being of vulnerable individuals and takes proactive measures to prevent harm.
Maintaining a Secure Work Environment: DBS checks contribute to a safer and more secure work environment for all employees. By identifying individuals with potential risks, organisations can prevent incidents and protect their employees, assets, and reputations.
At Agenda Screening, we offer three types of DBS checks:
DBS Basic: Highlights any unspent convictions and conditional cautions.
DBS Standard: Highlights any spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings.
DBS Enhanced: An in-depth check of someone’s criminal record history, including the information of a Standard check, along with information from local police that’s considered relevant to the role.
It’s important that we make the process as simple and seamless as possible for our customers, we therefore break it down into four simple stages:
Stage 1: Once the candidate has been offered the job, the company should then submit the candidate’s contact details into the portal
Stage 2: The candidate will then receive a link to submit their information through the portal and this will then populate the online application.
Stage 3: Our experienced screening team will then undertake the background checks.
Stage 4: The company will then receive a screening report, detailing all candidate information.
